The file that you are looking for is ODITRPKT.COM which is a version of
ODIPKT.COM that has been patched to provide the necessary support on token
ring networks. Works fine for me in loopback mode (using PKTMUX to provide
more than one driver so that I can run both clients and servers on one
Windows box :)
Don't remember where I found it, but it was a whole big .zip of ALL the
relevant drivers including ipx, lsl, tn3270 even.

I agree with your review of Chameleon's newsreader, and had sent mail to
Netmanage to that affect. After not hearing back, I figured I'd stop by the
booth at Networld/Interop (Las Vegas). I did, an vented like fury at the
"programmer." He responded positively and promised to "look" into the
problem.
We'll see what happens...

Subject: SLIP and Windows/NT
I'm currently running Trumpet Winsock under Windows 3.1 using SLIP. I
want to run the 32 bit Mosaic under winnt but I'm not sure how to get the
SLIP support. I understand that TCP/IP comes in the box but how can I
get the SLIP support, winnt doesn't yet support SLIP in the box. Is
there a 32 bit version of Trumpet Winsock with SLIP? How are others
doing this (if they are)?
I would really appreciate any responses via e-mail.
Thanks

Since Eudora is a POP client, you need to run a POP server for it to work.
WS_GMAIL (now called IMAIL) does include a POP3 server/client program so you
can try it out and see.

Trumpet Newsreader (current beta) can search through the headers too. But I
think what some people are asking is the ability to search for a text string
in the article body -- which I said is simply not pratical unless the news
server has a command to do it on the server itself.
Thanks for the info. on the 'xpat' extension, I haven't looked at the NNTP
specs. before so I could not say for sure.

That's probably not a Trumpet problem. Have you talked with your sysadmin
about this problem? Maybe they have things setup so that you only have reading
but not posting privilege? Most sites don't allow off-campus posting so it
is possible that they have accidentally considered your dial-up IP account as
off-campus.

There is no command bulit into NNTP that does article body searching. RFC 977
defines the NNTP standard and there is no text searching capability defined.
Inn has an extension of 'xpat' that does matches headers though.
I suspect whatever newsreader you are using on the UNIX host is fetching all
the articles and doing a body search that way. Or prehaps you are using some
other news server software that implements it. I don't think it is pratical to
implement it on the server either since it will only take a few people to slow
the machine down to a halt.

Subject: finger server
Hello...
I am fairly satisfied with the way my SLIP runs through Trumpet Winsock. I also
have OS/2 TCP/IP installed on my other partition, and I have a finger server
running there. I would like to be able to duplicate that when I am running my
SLIP from Windows. I asked a local newsgroup and I was directed here. I have
also received information on where to obtain a finger program, which is not what
I want -- I would like some program which allows people to finger my machine.
Any information is appreciated.
Tony

Subject: Hgopher 2.4 - Can't ID remote host computer
I recently started haveing a problem with Windows Hgopher 2.4.
Used to be when I started up the program, it would go to the home
page, like it was supposed to. Now, it starts up and gives me the
'resolve' label in connection window 1, and then pops up an error
dialog box like this:
+-----------------------------------------------------+
I'm sorry but
-------------------------------------------------------
! No connection (code 11004)
(could not identify the remote host computer
'gopher.mcs.com')
+-----------------------------------------------------+
and goes to a NULL screen. BUT, when I then click on the HOME button
or select HOME from the pulldown menu, it gives the 'resolve' label in
connection window 1 for about a second, and puts the home page up on
the screen.
I have tried several variation on the host computer name, different
setups on the .INI file, replacing the hgopher.exe, and most of the
rest things I could think about, but no luck. (Weird event # 432:
The other night I clicked on hgoper.exe in the file manager, and it
worked right. It didn't work right the ### times I did that before,
or the ### times I have done it since. ?????)
Oh, well. Any ideas? Your help is appreciated.
